Thinking Day

On Saturday 9th February 2013 1st Cranwell (RAF) Brownies joined other Rainbows, Brownies and Guides for the District Thinking Day event.

Based around the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts theme of Child Mortality and Maternal Health the girls joined in with a number of activities.

The first activity the girls undertook was to make Peppermint Creams and to decorate a biscuit will a face showing how they felt when they first arrived.  The girls then had the opportunity to talk about how they felt with the rest of the group by drawing their faces on a chart.

The second activity was to get to know the other girls.  Drawing round our hands we then had to get the other girls in our group to write their names.  This activity was to make us understand that we all had something in common, we were members of Girlguiding, but we were all individuals.  The girls then sat in groups and discussed how they were individuals - so for example so had Brothers, some had Sisters, some wore glasses etc.

Our third activity was to write a Thinking Day Card to a friend and tell them about what we had been doing during our Thinking Day Celebrations.

Our final activity of the day was to think about Rainbows, Brownie and Guides in Countries that are not as well off as us and think about the materials which we take as being part of our every day life.

We would like to thank everyone who was involved in organising the day.
