What is Pancake Day and why do 1st
Cranwell Brownies want to celebrate it every year?
Pancake Day, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the last day before
Lent. Lent is a time when Christians give things up, so Shrove
Tuesday is theri last chance to indulge themselves and to use up the
foods which are not allowed during Lent. Pancakes are often eaten
on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were
forbidden during Lent.
Brownies love an opportunity to cook, so what else could we do to
celebrate Pancake Day than to make our own Pancakes - YUM YUM. We
use an easy mix which just needs water to be added to it - the girls
give it a shake and then into the frying pan it goes.
